Saturday Junkee was a  bi-weekly litter-picking and art-making programme designed to engage individuals and groups busy with work during the week, looking for activities with the local community during weekends. We recognised the benefit of community engagement and litter picking to boost  self-esteem and health.  Many of the participants reported that they felt energised by the sessions, especially after a long work week!

There needed to be more direction and continuity with the project, as participants were invited just to come and bring their experiences and share their needs., Saturday Junkee brought a broad range of voices together, taking the creative work we’ve done so far to the next level, regularly presenting temporary small-scale art-litter installations around the neighbourhood.
