About
Rooted in Norwood Junction, a diverse and multicultural area in South Croydon.
Supported and championed by the local community, NJA became a platform that uses creativity to highlight the positive impact of community efforts while fostering imagination as a tool for storytelling, celebration, and inspiration.
NJA promotes litter picking as a way to build neighbourhood connections, care for the environment, and nurture self-care through a practice that enhances well-being.
Beyond addressing litter, NJA promotes creativity as a way to engage with discarded materials and shared experiences, exploring social barriers we face both individually and collectively. This process encourages participants to think beyond limitations and discover positive, imaginative solutions to everyday challenges while fostering the power of engaging locally for collective action and exchange.

Norwood JunkAction (NJA) was founded by artist Norman Mine, inspired by stories of individuals who shared how litter picking and community involvement helped them overcome life challenges.
A Platform for Volunteers, Creatives, and Community Members
A key aspect of Norwood JunkAction is the transformation of collected litter into art and sculptures that reflect the personal and collective experiences of those who partake. These artworks not only invite creative expression but also foster emotional connections, encouraging others to engage in a unique, artistic way with social and environmental issues.
Since its inception, Norwood JunkAction has been built on the principles of creative exchange and collaboration, providing an open platform where people from all walks of life shape ideas, learn new skills, develop projects, and contribute to the growth and direction of NJA.
